Lots of visiting family and friends. We spent one whole day with Jimmy and Bessie and though I had my camera with me, forgot to take any pictures. Duh!! Everything else is sort of self explanatory.

Birthday is Boxing Day.
|
|
Today is Michael's 15th birthday. Pat got Mike boxing gloves for his gift. According to our tradition, the other person also gets one gift, so I got Pat his gloves.

Garden State Parkway & Command Signs

Just four more common signs for you today. Yield, Do Not Enter, and One Way are all basic signs. The Garden State Parkway sign is unique to New Jersey.

Mike - Nice hand gesture!

All three of us were moved by the magnitude and very existence of the Memorial at the USS Arizona. Our visit to the Arizona was a time of quiet reflection and prayer. Later on our trip Pat and Mike went snorkeling on a section of the coral reef around Maui. I'm not sure what gesture Mike is making with his hand but Pat is stretching out toward a spiny urchin. We had a wonderful trip.

Kamehameha

One of the things that I've always found interesting, in a pastime type of way, are all the various signs around the world. I think I will occasionally post signs that I've photographed - here in CNJ (Central New Jersey) and other places. Today there is one fairly recent picture and one from today. The Kamehameha street sign is from Hawaii and I took this picture on our trip last summer. Evidently Kamahameha is a super-deadly attack in the DragonBall Z game. The other sign just struck me as a symbol for our need for children’s protection on our streets whether here in suburbia or anywhere else.

I'm an Irish Catholic Dad, who will stumble through the beginning of this "photoblogging" adventure while enjoying it immensely. Central New Jersey, USA, is where I hail from. Born and bred right here in the Garden State for almost 54 years now. I'm sure I'll choose one or more of the themes I'm contemplating before long, but for now I am going to slowly travel this new path. Thanks for venturing to check this out. Bill
